An open microphone series for writers will have their fourth gathering on Tuesday August 20 at 7 pm at The Beach House Beanery in Flagler Beach, Florida. The Florida Writers Association, Palm Coast chapter, is hosting this series that gives local talent the opportunity to share their writing with other writers, FWA members and guests.
The only way you can sign up to read is by email to facilatator Michael Ray King:
Ancient City Poet Chris Bodor was number 7 on the list for the July 16th reading that boasted 22 performers and close to sixty poetry lovers in the audience. Michael Henry Lee, a founding member of the group, traveled down with Chris to soak in the scene. Here is a short video clip of the July event, featuring footage of Chris reading barefoot for the first, and maybe only, time:

TALK ON THE CHILD SIDE with Feature MICHAEL HENRY LEE
Join the Ancient City Poets on Sunday July 28th from 3 to 5 pm for a free poetry reading at The Gallery Café of St. Augustine (located at 1974 US-1 in the Staples Plaza). All poets and poetry lovers are welcome to attend.
Michael Henry Lee will be the featured author. Michael is a haiku enthusiast who has also served as the assistant editor of two anthologies published by the St. Augustine based Poet Plant Press.
Beginning at 3:00 pm, the first hour of this month’s reading will feature a community microphone portion, open to all who wish to share an original poem or one from a favorite writer. The suggested theme for the afternoon is "Talk on the Child Side" - poems that we remember from our youth or poems written by little ones.
At 4:00 pm, Michael Henry Lee will present poems from his new collection, "Against The Grain”, as well as other poems from his impressive body of work. After his presentation, the author will be available to sign copies of his book and the ones that he has worked on for Poet Plant Press. The two books that Michael has served as the assistant editor are available for purchase at Amazon.com and they will also be available at the reading in addition to his new book.
