PLANT-A-POEM WORKSHOP - Power of Poetry
On Sunday August 31 poets of all skill levels are invited to Plant-A-Poem with the Ancient City Poets at The Gallery Café of St. Augustine (1974 US-1 S, in the old Staples Plaza). Flagler Beach author Becky Meyer Pourchot will lead this workshop. The focus will be on using the magic of poetry to create good prose. Please come prepared to write. Resister at the door at 1:45 pm. There is a small $10 charge to cover the cost of endless coffee and sweet treats. The hour long workshop begins at 2:00 pm. Then, travel a short way up US-1 for “Saint Augustine Speaks”, a community open microphone gathering held at City Coffee Company (1280 N. Ponce de Leon Blvd, near the Village Inn).
SAINT AUGUSTINE SPEAKS - Five Year Celebration
Directly after the workshop, poets and poetry lovers will gather at City Coffee Company (1280 N. Ponce de Leon Blvd, near Village Inn). Hosted by Ancient City Poets, “Saint Augustine Speaks” is a community open microphone gathering. All are welcome to read a poem on any topic or just grab a seat and soak in the spoken word scene. The readings are held on the last Sunday of each month. Haiku Enthusiast Michael Henry Lee will turn on the microphone at 3:00 pm and invite all who are willing to step up and share a poem or two. At 4:00 pm local writers who are featured in FM 10 Summer 2014 will present their work. An author meet and greet and book signing will be held directly after.
