OPEN MIC POETRY AT CORAZON
SUNDAY September 24
The Ancient City Poets will host a community open mic reading on Sunday September 24 from 3:00 to 4:30 at Corazon Cinema and Cafe (36 Granada Street, Saint Augustine, across from the Lightner Museum). Saint Augustine Speaks is an open mic series that offers poets of all skill levels an opportunity to share their poems with a loving and supportive audience.
The microphone will be turned on at 3:00 pm and all are encouraged to share poems that relate to positive change in our community and the world that we live in as we observe 100 Thousand Poets for Change Day. The gatherings are held "renga style" with no emcee or sign-up sheet and end when everyone has had an opportunity to share.
Here is the Facebook event invite:
You can be an agent of change with your written words. This is the idea behind 100 Thousand Poets for Change, a grassroots organization now in its seventh year that brings communities together to call for environmental, social, and political change within the framework of peace and sustainability. On September 30, 2017, concerts, readings, workshops, flash mobs, parades and demonstrations will take place in more than 109 countries around the world.
Join us on Sunday September 24th for Saint Augustine’s official observation of the global event that will feature more than 500 gatherings this September. “Peace and sustainability are major concerns worldwide, and the guiding principles for this global event,” said Michael Rothenberg, co-founder of 100 Thousand Poets for Change. “We are in a world where it isn't just one issue that needs to be addressed. A common ground is built through this global compilation of local stories, which is how we create a true narrative for discourse to inform the future.”

Their full cafe menu will be available during the event so please come prepared to buy a sandwich, beverage, or sweet treat. Here is the menu:
Due to Hurricane Irma and its impact on Florida, this Friday (Sept 8), Saturday (Sept 9) and Sunday (Sept 10) Sing Out Loud events have been cancelled. This includes the 100 Thousand Poets for Change Showcase scheduled for Saturday September 9th, 2017.
The Ancient City Poets 3 pm open mic on Sunday September 24th at the Corazon Theatre will be dedicated to 100 Thousand Poets for Change and poems on the theme of "change".
