THEME: "Poetic Gratitude"
SUNDAY, NOV 25, 2018
Dine on a cornucopia of poems about subjects such as cold turkey, stuffing, and hubble pie.
The Ancient City Poets will host a community open mic reading on Sunday October 28 from 3:00 to 4:30 at Corazon Cinema and Cafe (36 Granada Street, Saint Augustine, Florida, across from the Lightner Museum). Readers are invited to share poems about poetic gratitude and bookish blessings. You might want to share a tale from the dysfunctional Thanksgiving Day table.
The theme is meant as a writing prompt and it is your choice if you want to follow the theme or not. Give us two or three of your polished poems or share fresh ink from your notebook. Invite a friend or two or three to cheer you on. Whether you want to share a poem or just soak in the St. Augustine poetry scene, this will be a perfect way to end the Thanksgiving Day weekend.
Saint Augustine Speaks is an open mic series that offers poets of all skill levels an opportunity to share their poems with a loving and supportive audience. A sign-up sheet will be available at 2:30 and the open mic will start at 3:00 pm. Readers will be called to the podium in the order their names appear on the list. The mic will be turned off at 4:30 to allow the last 30 minutes for a meet and greet and networking.

ANCIENT CITY POETS ON YOUTUBE
We have been working hard to document the local poetry scene here in Saint Augustine. We are always looking for college students and videographers with equipment who are interested in shooting footage at the readings. Here is a clip of Bryan Pitchford reading at the Ancient City Poets showcase from the September 2018 Sing Out Loud Festival with an intro by host Chris Bodor. Thank you to Jorge Rivera from Firstcoast.tv for shooting this crystal clear footage. We launched the Ancient City Poets Youtube Channel in April of this year for National Poetry Month. Subscribe to our channel so you can get notified whenever new footage is added.
