THEME: "And Then There Were Ten"
SUNDAY, August 25th, 2019
Come celebrate with us we look back on ten years of hosting free poetry open mic readings in the Nation's Oldest City.
The Ancient City Poets will host a community poetry open reading on Sunday, August 25th from 3:00 to 4:30 at the Corazon Cinema and Cafe (36 Granada Street, Saint Augustine, Florida, across from the Lightner Museum).
Readers are invited to share with us poems on the theme of ten years gone or a decade or decayed (depending on your perspective). Poems that speak of your love for the Ancient City Poets, or how your life has changed since you found us.
The theme is meant as a writing prompt and it is your choice if you want to follow the theme or not. Give us two or three of your polished poems or share fresh ink from your notebook. Invite a friend or two or three to cheer you on.
A sign-up sheet will be available at 2:30 and the open mic will start at 3:00 pm. Readers will be called to the podium in the order their names appear on the list. The mic will be turned off at 4:30 to allow the last 30 minutes for a meet and greet and networking.

ANCIENT CITY POETS ON YOUTUBE
We have been working hard to document the local poetry scene here in Saint Augustine. We are always looking for college students and film makers with equipment who are interested in shooting footage at the readings. Here is a clip of spoken word artist Odd Rod, shot by Chris Bodor at the July 2019 open mic.
The Ancient City Poets Youtube Channel was launched in April of 2018 for National Poetry Month to preserve our past. Subscribe to our channel so you can get notified whenever new footage is added.
