![]() OPEN MIC POETRY AT CORAZON THEME: LOVE POWER SUNDAY February 25 The Ancient City Poets will host a community open mic reading on Sunday February 25 from 3:00 to 4:30 at Corazon Cinema and Cafe (36 Granada Street, across from the Lightner Museum). Saint Augustine Speaks is an open mic series that offers poets of all skill levels an opportunity to share their poems with a loving and supportive audience. The microphone will be turned on at 3:00 pm and all are encouraged to share their own poems or works from their favorite writers. It's no secret that love is in the air every February. So, come pour your heart out with your words on love and loss or amorous beginnings. Attendees do not have to stick to this theme to share their work. A sign up sheet will be provided and readers will be called to the podium in the order their names appear on the list. The mic will be turned off at 4:30 to allow the last 30 minutes for meet and greet and networking. Here is the Facebook event invite: https://www.facebook.com/events/782857605235270/ In order to keep these gatherings free of charge, we do ask that you patronize the Corazon and thank them for opening their doors to poetry and spoken word and performance art. Their full cafe menu will be available during the event so please come prepared to buy a sandwich, beverage, or sweet treat. This gathering will be part of a series of poetry readings through out Florida during the month of March in response to the shooting in Parkland, Florida. Michael Rothenberg, co-founder of the global movement 100 Thousand Poets for Change, is spear heading this initiative and has invited Saint Augustine to participate.
