Join the Ancient City Poets on Sunday June 30th from 3 to 5 pm for a free poetry reading at The Gallery Café of St. Augustine, Florida (located at 1974 US-1 in the Staples Plaza). All poets and poetry lovers are welcome to attend these free events that have been happening on the last Sunday of every month in the Nation’s Oldest City for the last three years.
Kimmy Van Kooten will be the featured author. Ms. Van Kooten is a mother of eleven who spends stolen moments writing poems and creating illustrations. She has illustrated book covers for Poet Plant Press and Avenue U Publications.
Beginning at 3:00 pm, the first hour of this month’s reading will feature a community microphone portion, open to all who wish to share an original poem or one from a favorite writer. The suggested theme is "Celebrate Summer". Poets do not have to follow the theme.
At 4:00 pm, Kimmy will present poems from her new collection, “Peace of Language”, as well as pieces from her prolific body of work. The author will be available to sign copies of her book after her presentation. Books featuring illustrations by Kimmy Van Kooten are available for purchase on line at Amazon.com and they will also be available at the reading. For more info find Ancient City Poets on Facebook.com or call the Gallery Café at (904) 825-9944.
