Poem in Your Pocket Day 2014 will be held this year on Thursday April 24. The idea is simple: select a poem you love, carry it with you and share it with co-workers, family, and friends. Each year on this day, poems from pockets throughout the United States will be unfolded at events in parks, libraries, schools, workplaces, and bookstores. In 2002, New York City initiated Poem in Your Pocket Day as part of the city's National Poetry Month celebration. In 2008, the Academy of American Poets took the initiative national. Bring a haiku idea or two. You will learn how to cultivate a haiku seed and help it grow with the miracle grow of feedback from other workshop participants.
SAINT AUGUSTINE SPEAKS - SPOKEN WORD READING SUNDAY APRIL 27
Immediately following the workshop, join us up the street at City Coffee (located at 1280 N. Ray Neilson will open the reading and at 3:30 everyone who wrote something during the workshop is encouraged to share their newly cultivated haiku. Pull a poem from your pocket and share it with a warm and supportive crowd. The reading will be held “renga style” with no emcee or sign-up sheet. The event will end when all presenters have had an opportunity to share.
