![]() A crew of dedicated volunteers have been meeting every Monday since January to bring you the inaugural St. Augustine PoetFest. Those planning meetings ended during the fist week of March and we will spend the next thirty days getting ready for the gathering. REMINDER: NO 03/27/22 MARCH OPEN MIC 🎤 It has been a familiar routine for the St. Augustine poetry scene. Getting together on the last Sunday of every month for the last dozen years to share poems and enjoy spoken words. There will be no open mic on Sunday, March 27, so that we can put all our efforts into the upcoming St. Augustine PoetFest. Tell your friends who are poets and poetry lovers to join us all on Saturday April 9th on the campus of Flagler College to celebrate National Poetry Month from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday April 9th for an all day celebration of writing and reciting. The weekend will begin with a festival kick off open mic on Friday April 8th at Relampago Coffee Lab, located at 74 Spanish Street. The reading will start at 7:00 p.m. and the sign-up sheet will be out at 6:30 p.m. This National Poetry Month celebration is being presented by St. Johns Cultural Council, the English Department of Flagler College, and Ancient City Poets. The celebration will also include our last Sunday of the month reading, outdoors at 137 King Street on Sunday April 24th. Sign up sheet out at 2:30 p.m. Mic on at 3:00 p.m. SECOND ANNUAL HAIKU CONTEST - ST. JOHNS CULTURAL COUNCIL We are also excited to mention that the St. Johns Cultural launched their 2nd Annual Haiku Contest. Last year there were more than 300 poems submitted. The Journal will start collecting for Issue Four on the first of August. The official release day of Issue Three will be April 1st. We will all celebrate the release of issue three at PoetFest on April 8th and 9th.
